Allergy Conditions We Treat
Allergies can affect your nose, eyes, skin, lungs, and stomach. These are the allergy conditions we diagnose and treat for children and adults at our Commerce Township and Mount Clemens offices. Choose a condition to learn about its symptoms, testing, and treatment.
Nose, Sinus, and Eye Allergies
- Allergic Rhinitis (Hay Fever): sneezing, congestion, and an itchy nose caused by pollen, dust mites, mold, or pets
- Sinusitis: sinus pressure, congestion, and infections that keep coming back, often linked to allergies. Includes nasal polyps.
- Eye Allergies (Allergic Conjunctivitis): itchy, red, watery eyes, often alongside hay fever
Food Allergies
- Food Allergy: reactions to foods such as peanuts, tree nuts, milk, egg, shellfish, fish, wheat, and soy
- Oral Allergy Syndrome: itching or tingling in the mouth after eating certain raw fruits or vegetables, linked to pollen allergy
- Eosinophilic Esophagitis (EoE): inflammation of the esophagus that can make swallowing hard or cause food to get stuck
- Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES): a delayed food reaction in infants and young children that causes repeated vomiting a few hours after eating
Skin Allergies
- Eczema (Atopic Dermatitis): dry, itchy, inflamed skin that allergens can make worse. Includes care for dry skin.
- Contact Dermatitis: a rash caused by something that touched your skin, such as nickel, fragrances, or preservatives
- Hives and Swelling (Urticaria and Angioedema): raised, itchy welts on the skin or deeper swelling of the lips, eyes, or face
Severe and Whole-Body Reactions
- Anaphylaxis: a severe allergic reaction that comes on quickly and needs emergency treatment
- Insect Sting Allergy: reactions to bee, wasp, hornet, or yellow jacket stings
- Drug Allergy: reactions to medicines such as penicillin and other antibiotics. Testing and supervised challenges can show which medicines are safe for you.
