Allergy Treatment

Allergy Treatment Built Around Your Triggers

Once we know what is causing your symptoms, we create a plan to help you feel better and stay that way. Your plan depends on your specific allergies, how much they affect your daily life, and what you’ve already tried. We treat children and adults at our Commerce Township and Mount Clemens offices and adjust your plan as your needs change.

Treatment Options

Allergen Avoidance Counseling

Limiting contact with your triggers is often the first step. We give you practical advice for home, school, and work, such as reducing dust mites in the bedroom, cutting down pollen exposure on high-count days, and reading food labels with confidence.

Allergy Medicines

Antihistamines, nasal steroid sprays, eye drops, and other medicines can ease symptoms. We help you choose the right ones, use them correctly, and stop the ones that aren’t helping.

Epinephrine Auto-Injector Training

If you or your child is at risk for anaphylaxis, we prescribe epinephrine and teach you when and how to use it. We also help you put together an emergency action plan to share with family, school, and caregivers.

Allergy Shots and Sublingual Tablets

Immunotherapy slowly trains your immune system to react less to the things you’re allergic to. Allergy shots are given in our office on a regular schedule. Sublingual tablets dissolve under the tongue and are taken at home for grass pollen, ragweed, or dust mite allergy. Unlike medicines that only ease symptoms, immunotherapy treats the allergy itself and can provide relief that lasts after treatment ends. Learn about allergy shots and tablets.

Current allergy shot patients can book injection appointments online for either office on our Book an Appointment page.

Biologic Therapy

Biologics are medicines that block specific steps in the allergic response. They may be an option for some patients with severe allergic conditions, such as chronic hives or allergic asthma, when other treatments haven’t worked well enough. Biologics are given by injection on a regular schedule, and we’ll talk with you about whether you’re a good candidate.

Ongoing Care

Allergies can change over time. Follow-up visits let us check how well your plan is working, adjust your medicines, and decide whether testing or immunotherapy makes sense down the road.
